BOUCHERCON 2021 VOTERS GUIDE

Bylaws and Rules that take will take effect at Bouchercon 2021, if approved:

A. Eliminates ability for nominations to be made during the General Members Meeting and provide that nominees for the Board will be identified and solicited no later than 90 days prior to the General Members Meeting and vetted by a standing Nominating Committee of the Board. The Nominating Committee will prepare a slate reflecting a majority endorsement vote of the Board, to be ratified by the membership. [Rules I.E.].

B. Creates a new Bouchercon Standing Rule which stipulates that all agreements with a Local Organizing Committee shall require the adopted Bouchercon Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy be read and accepted by members at the time of convention registration. [Rules III.C].

C. Allows that under a majority vote of the Board of Directors, if at the end of a General Members meeting a location for an upcoming Annual Convention has not been identified, the Board may step in, initiate, and secure an annual convention location until a Local Organizing Committee can be identified. [Rules III.F].

E. Amends Bylaws to read new proposed Bylaw amendments that receive a majority of member votes at the General Members Meeting, shall be approved and adopted at the General Members Meeting that year. This action would allow Bylaws to go into effect in the year of adoption versus the current two years. [Bylaws VIII.B.2].

F. Amends Bylaws to read that the Board may appoint its officers to two-year terms instead of one year. [Bylaws III.B].
